Timber Stand Improvements
Bay State Forestry Service will complete the work on the ground to improve the
growth of forest stands. Often, a forest can benefit substantially from the
removal of poor quality trees, to grow high quality, healthy trees. Removing the
low quality canopy trees creates openings to allow new seedlings to become
established on the forest floor. In many cases, these low quality trees can be
reclaimed as cordwood or chipped and used as a source of renewable green energy
for power plants.
