Mike is a Massachusetts and Connecticut licensed forester with a Bachelors degree in Forestry from the University of Massachusetts. Mike grew up in Hubbardston, Mass, and now resides in Northfield. He has been a consulting forester with Bay State Forestry since 2004. Prior to that, Mike worked for the Management Forestry Program for the Massachusetts Bureau of Forestry. In his position with the state, Mike learned to develop Access databases that tracked the timber harvests on state forests. In his current position, Mike maintains a database for our foresters to collect inventory data in the field, prepare management plans and keep records of timber harvests and contract information. Mike’s professional interests include woodlot management, GIS and GPS mapping and conducting forest inventories. Of particular interest are projects that involve managing for declining wildlife habitats. At home Mike enjoys training bird dogs (Vizslas) to compete in region-wide hunt tests and field trials, going hunting, whitewater kayaking, and enjoying time with his wife and two girls.
